We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Client Contracting team as a Regulatory Policy VP. This role will be responsible for drafting and negotiating investment management agreements, investment guidelines, and other contractual arrangements between BlackRock and our clients.
Responsibilities- Manage a team of individuals, providing oversight and being a point of escalation.
- Act as primary support for a defined business area, managing business workload and driving training and oversight of team members.
- Draft, negotiate, and coordinate contractual documentation for BlackRock's clients, including standard agreements, non-disclosure agreements, distribution agreements, and investment management agreements.
- Facilitate and coordinate with internal stakeholders across different regions involved in the contracting process, ensuring their comments flow through to the contract and requisite approvals are obtained.
- Partner with various teams across BlackRock to ensure contractual terms and minimize risk.
- Ensure that the appropriate contracting process is followed and that all completed contractual documentation is properly filed, stored, and retrievable to mitigate risk to BlackRock.
- Negotiate client documentation within the remit of the Client Contracting team, escalating appropriate risk where necessary.
- Capture and record relevant non-standard contractual clauses on an ongoing basis and maintain the contractual documentation database.
- Participate in research initiatives or projects requested by the sales, product, or legal teams.
- Demonstrated asset management or financial services experience.
- In-depth experience of drafting contractual documentation within the asset management industry, possessing either a legal background or qualification with experience of drafting and negotiating investment management agreements for clients, or excellent knowledge and proven track record in drafting and negotiating sophisticated legal contracts.
- Relevant legal qualification - 5-8 years PQE (Post-Qualified Experience) or relevant contractual management experience.
- Practicing certificate (Preferred).
- Experienced contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of the asset management industry and applicable law and regulations (Preferred).
- Strong proficiency on standard software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and interest in new technologies.
- Strong awareness of process efficiency and the need to mitigate risk through team processes.
- Flexible and open to accepting new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, demanding, and ever-changing environment while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to balance client needs with BlackRock policies and operational procedures; possess excellent regulatory and technical awareness in order to understand associated risks and provide innovative, risk-free, and compliance-friendly solutions.
- Dependability and a high degree of professional motivation and genuine interest in financial services, asset management, and the related regulatory environment.
