Job Summary

The Estate Surveyor will report to the Manager and utilize their landlord and tenant knowledge and technical expertise to ensure the Council estate is managed in accordance with landlord and tenant laws. The role involves undertaking property contact negotiations to obtain agreed terms, instructing legal professionals, and ensuring the completion of tenancy agreements. Additionally, the Estate Surveyor will maintain ongoing effective relationships to achieve the corporate outcome.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a case load as agreed with the Manager, with support from the Senior/Principal surveyor. Key duties include negotiating rent reviews and calculations, negotiating lease and licence terms, managing lease assignments, licences for alternations, easements, wayleaves, and other general estate management contractual negotiations.

Essential Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have experience in property inspection, including basic building pathology, landlord and tenant experience, including lease renewals, rent reviews, assignments, VOA awareness, lettings, licences to alter, assignment, and changes of use, purchase and sale of land and property.

Essential Qualifications Required

A good standard of education and evidence of continuing professional development in property surveying or a similar discipline are essential.

Additional Information

The role requires 37.5 hours per week and 12 days in the office per week. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate evidence of IT literacy, including a sound knowledge of tasks, systems, databases, and proven ability to manage a range of conflicting work demands and pressures.
