SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs in both one-to-one and group settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalized support to students with SEN, promoting their emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning and preparation tailored to students' individual needs, ensuring a tailored learning experience.
  • Help students with personal care tasks where necessary, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Monitor and report student progress to the teacher and SENCO, highlighting areas of strength and improvement.
  • Promote inclusion and help students engage in all aspects of school life, fostering a sense of belonging.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
  • A calm and patient approach to working with children with additional needs, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to assist in all areas of student development, embracing a growth mindset.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, or support roles are desirable, but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work on a temporary basis, starting ASAP, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
