About the Role

Civica UK Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Health and Care Division. The successful candidate will oversee engineering teams developing high-quality software products that support critical services for citizens worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering teams to deliver software efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
  • Drive a culture of engineering excellence within the team, focusing on high performance and psychological safety.
  • Utilize Agile practices to build self-organizing teams delivering high-quality software products in line with prioritized backlogs.
  • Lead a team of highly effective engineers to deliver software products in line with product roadmaps.
  • Work closely with the Product Team to implement product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Ensure structured plans for the engineering team are in place to deliver products to the highest standards of maintainability, reliability, and security.
  • Drive regular assessments and training programs to ensure team members have the right skills and experience to deliver in line with agreed backlogs.
  • Drive Agile practices and processes to deliver high release cadence and high-quality software.
  • Measure the impact of the engineering team and act upon these to deliver optimization.
  • Line manage engineers, including goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Drive a strong testing culture and embed ownership for testing and quality in the engineering teams.
  • Drive adherence to technical standards, coding standards, security standards, and development best practices.

Requirements

  • Breadth of knowledge across a wide range of development frameworks and languages, including C#,.Net Framework,.Net Core, Bootstrap, JQuery, Typescript, Knockout.Js, Angular, and experience building applications for the Cloud.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cloud platforms, including Azure and AWS.
  • Wide range of database technology experience, including MS SQL, Oracle, Mongo Db, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Strong advocate for Agile and modern engineering practices.
  • Track record of delivering commitments on time and quality.
