Yeast Technical Expert Job Description

NES Fircroft is working with a Crop Protection Solutions Company to find a Yeast Technical Expert for a 3-year PAYE contract.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and communicate the impact of yeast-based heterologous gene expression approaches on cross-indication project support.
  • Identify, prioritize, and design advances in yeast-based technologies to support lead generation activities.
  • Plan and execute transgenic and library-based experiments using bioinformatics and molecular biology design software, automation, and laboratory microbiological containment facilities.
  • Analyze existing omics datasets and present complex external data independently or in consultation with experts.
  • Develop and expand knowledge of own scientific discipline through reading and seeking to broaden understanding of other scientific disciplines.
  • Maintain high standards of HSE compliance, including following risk assessments, reporting safety incidents, and supporting the lab stewards community.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of experience in a scientific laboratory, preferably with yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and other fungi.
  • Ability to communicate scientific work in reports and presentations.
  • Experience with Bioinformatic tools, literature search tools, general information databases, and Microsoft-based document and communication software.
  • Basic understanding of plant-microbe interactions and laboratory experiments involving plant pathogens.
  • Good planning and organizing skills, motivation to support others, and constructive approach to change.
  • Preferably MSc, PhD, or equivalent.
