Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Band 6 Senior Emergency Care Nurse to become a vital member of our nursing team within the Same Day Emergency Care Unit, part of the Acute Medicine Cluster. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our patients have a seamless and positive experience as they transition through our care services.
Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility, including day, twilight, and weekend shifts, as well as cross-site responsibilities between our various Same Day Emergency Care Units.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Emergency Care Nurse will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough assessments, coordinating, and managing patient care effectively.
- Adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Standards and relevant guidelines, while being accountable for professional actions.
- Utilizing current knowledge and evidence to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care, while communicating findings and promoting best practices.
- Maintaining competence in mandatory training and developing clinical skills relevant to the practice area.
- Addressing concerns from patients, relatives, and caregivers promptly and taking necessary actions.
- Assuming responsibility for tasks delegated by the line or shift manager, which may include representing the unit in meetings and overseeing the training of unregistered nurses and students.
- Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and ensure high standards of care.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Current NMC registration.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on adult care.
- Post-basic qualification in Emergency Department nursing or equivalent experience.
- IV competency or willingness to achieve within six months.
- Teaching and assessing qualification.
Desirable:
- Degree in Nursing.
- Leadership or first-line management qualification.
- Degree-level qualification in a health-related subject.
- Counseling Skills Certificate.
- ECDL certification.
Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrable post-registration experience, including relevant senior staff nurse experience.
- Experience in Emergency Department nursing.
Desirable:
- Evidence of resource management experience.
- Management experience in an Emergency Department.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with performance management and PADR processes.
