About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Town Planner to join our growing Infrastructure Planning team at WSP. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and delivering clients in various consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders, Developments of National Significance, and applications under the Town and Country Planning Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and guidance to junior consultants and oversee their work
  • Organize and manage work in a professional and responsible manner, collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary planning, land, and environmental teams
  • Build good internal relationships through responsiveness and a commercial approach
  • Lead and prepare consent applications, including those under the Town and Country Planning Acts, Planning Act 2008, and Developments of National Significance
  • Project management with effective budgetary control
  • Desk studies, research, data management, and report writing
  • Leading and preparing tender submissions and presenting to tenderers and clients
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in town planning
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject
  • Chartered status (MRTPI/NIPA)
  • Experience of delivering and leading planning consents for infrastructure projects, working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Sound knowledge and experience of the UK planning system, gained in either a local authority or private sector setting
