Community Protection Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Protection Officer to join our team at Chelmsford City Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating nuisance and public health complaints, enforcing environmental crimes, and participating in various aspects of the stray dog service.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce littering, fly-tipping, dog fouling, and related environmental crime within the City.
- Enforce the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
- Investigate statutory nuisance, noise, anti-social behaviour, and general pollution.
- Participate in the stray dog service, including retrieving and transporting stray dogs, education, and enforcing dog fouling legislation.
- Address public health and drainage issues.
- Enforce animal welfare licensing provisions.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to customer care, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. They will also need to be able to take on a varied case load and work independently. A full driving licence is required, and the candidate will need to undertake some aspects of the work outside of normal office hours.
Working ArrangementsThe Community Protection Officer role requires the operation of a seasonal shift pattern during the summer months, where you will be required to work a rota of up to 3 days a week, between the hours of 06.00 – 21.00 hours. Some weekend working is also required throughout the year.
