About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operational Resilience Lead to join our Incident Response and Engagement Team in Technology, Resilience and Cyber department (TRC). As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the resilience of the financial services industry, protecting consumers and markets, and building confidence in the effectiveness of technology that underpins financial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support TRC's incident engagement with other supervision teams within TRC and the wider FCA
  • Identify and drive up standards within the sector
  • Lead and support the FCA's response to operational resilience incidents reported to us by regulated firms; including Critical Third Parties designated by HMT
  • Line management of members of the Incident Response and Engagement Team, coach and mentor colleagues within the team
  • Support incident review process for operational resilience incidents using domain specific incident knowledge
  • Provide upward reporting and updates on major incidents to FCA Senior Leadership Team and managing key stakeholders
  • Lead and support coordination of major incidents between the UK Financial Authorities, where there is significant consumer harm or market disruption
  • Leading strategic analysis of incidents for portfolios arising from cyber-attack or technology disruptions
  • Track and produce detailed Management Information on incidents reported to the FCA by regulated firms

Requirements

Minimum

  • Substantial experience in fast-moving, end-to-end incident or crisis management processes
  • Experience of working in the financial sector or other regulated industry
  • Experience of working with the FCA's approach to Operational Resilience
  • The successful candidate will hold or will be required to obtain Security Clearance (SC) level vetting

Essential

  • Experience in motivating, leading, and delivering through others
  • Good experience of assessing operational resilience capabilities
  • Broad experience across a number of technology & cyber resilience management domains
  • Exposure to and understanding of resilience management frameworks (e.g. COBIT, NIST, ITIL)
  • Good analytical capability with appropriate application of judgement and diligence; can demonstrate taking pride in work and ensuring it is of the highest standard
  • Good interpersonal skills with evidence of team working, confidence, and credibility, and an ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Track record of being able to respond to fast-moving incidents, including providing briefings to seniors
  • Good judgement and attention to detail, including under time pressure

Security Clearance/Vetting

The successful candidate will hold or will be required to obtain Security Clearance (SC) level vetting.
