Job Overview

BlueGate Consulting Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design of new products and the maintenance and upgrading of existing products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop practical, robust, and cost-effective electronic designs with appropriate documentation.
  • Manage design projects from conception to volume manufacture, ensuring technical, cost, and product brief requirements are met.
  • Lead the design of schematic, PCB layout, mechanical, and software design for products.
  • Specify microcontrollers for embedded systems and program in C.
  • Ensure full test and validation of designs to specification before release for manufacture.
  • Test and report for compliance to relevant standards.
  • Create production test solutions.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and support New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to select cost-effective technologies.
  • Provide engineering support to junior engineers to develop their skills.
  • Support other business areas as required.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level in electronics.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital circuits and PCB layout.
  • Programming skills in C for embedded design (STM32 preferred).
  • Programming skills in Python for testing solutions.
  • Practical experience in hand-building and debugging prototype circuits.
  • Desirable skills include programming in VB/VBA, LEDs for lighting applications, lighting controls and sensors, SMPS, battery charging, and EMC.
