Role Overview
As a Configuration Control Specialist at Thales Above Water Systems (AWS), you will be instrumental in supporting the activities of Thales AWS-UK from the initial stages of project capture through to delivery and ongoing support. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the Configuration Management System adheres to all required standards and to maintain the configuration data for your assigned scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute Configuration Management (CM) strategies for both new and ongoing projects to ensure effective implementation.
- Assist in identifying contractual requirements for optimal CM performance among partners and suppliers.
- Create, update, and enforce the CM Plan in accordance with policies and contractual obligations.
- Define, maintain, and ensure compliance with CM requirements for contractors and suppliers.
- Conduct audits and assessments of contractors and suppliers to verify adherence to CM processes and deliverables.
- Manage and oversee the configuration change process, including design modifications and documentation.
- Participate in configuration reviews and track milestones related to design evolution.
- Ensure traceability of design changes throughout the implementation phase.
- Perform configuration verifications and audits.
- Promote a proactive and innovative atmosphere within the team.
- Delegate tasks effectively within the CM team.
- Provide insights on the efficiency of the development environment.
- Report on CM Key Performance Indicators.
- Assist in generating project estimates.
- Communicate key issues raised by Engineering to relevant stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Proficient in standard configuration management processes and tools, particularly those related to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
- Ideally possess a degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or have relevant equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of operational processes and methodologies across various domains.
- Solid grasp of system integration principles.
- Ability to navigate complexity and excel in dynamic environments.
- Experience with Hardware & Software CM practices and tools.
- Skilled in articulating and detailing requirements and initiatives.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous experience in configuration management within defense or engineering sectors.
- Familiarity with standards such as DEF Stan.
- Experience with Windchill PLM software.
