Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide medical input to our Community Mental Health Team, Memory Service, and Care Home Liaison Team, working with a population of approximately 22,500 older adults registered with GP practices in the WWKYD area.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consultant medical input to the Community Mental Health Team, Memory Service, and Care Home Liaison Team.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver direct interventions to service users, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
- Provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and attend regular Team MDT meetings.
- Assess and treat outpatients in clinics, hold CPA meetings, and visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
- Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs, and non-NHS organisations to ensure seamless care.
- Prepare Mental Health Act Tribunal reports and participate in Mental Health Act Tribunal meetings for Community Treatment Order patients.
- Provide medical and AC responsibility for patients from designated GP practices.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
