About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our Specialist Vehicles Division. As a workshop-based engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of HGVs and light commercial vehicles within a busy depot environment.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Workshop Service Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the depot workshop.
- Conduct pre-delivery roadworthiness inspections (PDIs) on machines, adhering to manufacturer specifications, company policy, and relevant regulations. Report any defects or deficiencies to the Workshop Service Manager.
- Repair machines at the depot to meet manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities (PPM), ensuring the fleet maintains a high standard of appearance.
- Provide customers with machine handovers, familiarizing them with safe operating procedures in accordance with company protocols.
- Act as a company representative, delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional demeanor. Relay customer inquiries to relevant depot staff.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including engineer's reports, off-hire documentation, pre/delivery inspection forms, and service sheets.
- Update the system on machine status changes, such as completed PDIs, machines under repair, or statutory inspections.
- Prepare vehicles (and trailers where applicable) for MOT testing.
- Possess a relevant HGV general maintenance qualification at Level 3 and proven experience in servicing and preparing vehicles to meet MOT standards.
- Demonstrate a mature approach with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- Understand the significance of adhering to statutory and company-defined service/inspection schedules for roadworthiness compliance.
- An HGV license would be advantageous.
