Job Opportunity: SEND Specialist Tutor

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition to young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are unable to access mainstream education.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and inspirational tutor to support children and young people with SEN in the Dawlish area. Many children with SEN have become disengaged with their learning, and we aim to re-engage them in their education and provide a supportive environment for their growth.

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will be responsible for creating and delivering tailored lesson plans to bridge gaps in the pupil's education and boost their attainment levels. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher, or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way.

Your primary goal will be to support and re-engage the pupil in their learning, offer structure and routine, and continue their educational development. The tuition will replace school for these young people and is typically part-time, taking place during school hours, five days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver tailored lesson plans to meet the individual needs of each pupil
  • Provide one-to-one tuition to young people with SEN
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress
  • Work closely with Prospero Teaching to ensure the best possible outcomes for each pupil
Requirements
  • QTS or equivalent
  • UK classroom teaching experience or experience working with SEN children in a care environment
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN
  • Ability to think creatively and work with challenging behaviour
