OBM People is seeking a seasoned Lead Marine Technical Consultant to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in delivering expert guidance on marine technical and safety protocols for offshore operations.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Marine Operations Manager and will be responsible for advising on all marine technical aspects and safety considerations related to our offshore services and client marine activities, with a primary focus on logistical operations.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients, providing operational support to ensure a strong emphasis on marine technical challenges and safety performance.
The ideal candidate will possess management-level experience on offshore support vessels, particularly in PSV, ERRV, and AHTS categories, along with comprehensive knowledge of vessels, MODUs, and production platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage Marine Technical Advisors as assigned.
- Foster staff development through effective coaching and mentoring.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality Marine Technical services, prioritizing safety and excellence for our clients.
- Regularly assess and recommend enhancements for Marine Services, identifying potential growth opportunities.
- Support business development initiatives and commercial activities.
- Act as a substitute for the Marine Services Manager when necessary.
- Manage daily safety and marine assurance protocols on client vessels.
- Assist in the operational management of Marine Control.
- Coordinate with contractors as needed.
- Engage with logistics operations to ensure seamless integration.
- Conduct marine assurance and onboarding briefings as required for both term and spot hire vessels.
- Perform safety audits and training for vessel crews.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Participate in offshore assessments to verify adherence to procedures and guidelines.
- Engage in client project planning and meetings.
- Deliver high-quality reports consistently.
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of a duty rotation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery, processes, and cost efficiencies.
- Promote a positive company image through exceptional service and client engagement.
- Encourage a proactive health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) culture.
- Assist colleagues and undertake additional duties as required.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (STCW II/1 or III/3).
- Full UK driving license.
- Full Dynamic Positioning (DP) license.
- Management-level experience on offshore support vessels, particularly in PSV, ERRV, and AHTS categories.
- In-depth knowledge of vessels, MODUs, and production platforms.
- Demonstrated success in the marine industry, adhering to guidelines and best practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting to shifting workloads and priorities without compromising quality.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
- Customer-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
