Clinical Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coder to join our team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a crucial role in abstracting and analyzing clinical information from digitized case notes, laboratory reports, and discharge summaries.
Your primary responsibility will be to code complex clinical data regarding diagnoses and surgical procedures on patient episodes using national (OPCS-4) and international (ICD-10) classifications. You will work closely with the data quality team to ensure accurate episode data on the patient hospital system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Abstracting and analyzing relevant clinical data from various sources, including digitized case notes, laboratory reports, and discharge summaries.
- Coding complex clinical data using national and international classifications, adhering to national standards and conventions.
- Validating admission and discharge details to maintain accuracy of data and identify missing or incorrect activity.
- Liaising with the data quality team to ensure correct episode data on the patient hospital system.
- Identifying and registering new cancers for inclusion in the national Cancer Register.
- Working within deadlines while maintaining a high quality of accuracy and completeness of clinical coding.
- Continuing professional education and undertaking personal professional development to refresh clinical coding skills.
- Providing coding advice to medical, clinical, and administration staff to ensure consistency.
- Liaising with medical secretaries, ward personnel, departmental staff, and patient records clerks to locate, retrieve, and return case notes.
- Mentoring less experienced coders and providing trainee coders with specialized knowledge across all specialties.
- Participating in in-house audits to promote the accuracy and consistency of clinical coding and the representation of activity and case-mix within the Trust.

Requirements- NCCQ - Accredited Clinical Coder
- At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent educational qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year's experience as a Clinical Coder with documented evidence of formal training and competency achievement gained or formal refresher training
- Experience of Clinical Coding in a NHS hospital setting
- Ability to code accurately and to national coding guidelines with little or no supervision
- Ability to work remotely
