Working Style: Fixed-base worker

Please note this is a full time position working 37 hours per week, shift patterns include AM 07:00 - 14:30 and PM 14:00 - 21:30.

This shift is designed to empower individuals, their families, and caregivers with the necessary resources to lead healthy and independent lives, while also addressing the increasing demand for services sustainably within the Council's financial framework.

About You

As a vital member of our team, you will participate in a rota system to fulfill the needs of the residential setting. We seek individuals with a solid background in care who can adopt a person-centered approach that is both adaptable and dependable. Prior experience in this sector is essential, and you should be ready to contribute effectively from day one. Comprehensive training and a paid induction will be provided.

This position focuses on being a dedicated, adaptable, and enthusiastic team player within a residential or short break service, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care for adults. You will collaborate closely with residents, their families, and other professionals in a residential care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in achieving their highest level of independence and control over their daily lives, in alignment with their care plans. This includes support with personal hygiene, medication management, meal preparation, and laundry services.
  • Facilitate access to social and recreational activities for individuals or groups, which may encompass educational classes, community centers, and various other engagements.
  • Monitor the emotional and overall well-being of individuals daily, ensuring the protection of vulnerable adults and reporting any concerns to senior management.
  • Empower individuals to make choices that respect their dignity and privacy, promoting their autonomy in accordance with care plans and relevant documentation.
  • Maintain a respectful, patient, and courteous demeanor with residents, their families, visitors, and colleagues, whether in the home or within the community.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent through experience, with a commitment to achieving the qualification within 24 months of starting.
  • Experience in a social care environment and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the capacity to build rapport and engage with diverse groups.
  • Some experience working with adults with disabilities or a genuine interest in this field.
  • Understanding of a person-centered approach, with respect for dignity and privacy, and a focus on promoting choice.
  • Knowledge of the needs of individuals and relevant legislation concerning Vulnerable Adults, Mental Capacity, and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to undertake training in areas such as Manual Handling, First Aid Awareness, Food Hygiene, Risk and Conflict Management, Data Protection, and Health and Safety if not already completed.
