About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Housing Lawyer to join our Legal Services Litigation Team at Torbay Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing expert legal advice and support to our housing and social services departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance on housing law, including homelessness, housing standards, and anti-social behaviour injunctions.
  • Work closely with our housing and social services teams to develop and implement effective solutions to complex housing issues.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to inform legal decisions and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including housing officers, social workers, and other legal professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in housing law and policy, and ensure that our team's knowledge and expertise are current and relevant.
Requirements
  • Admitted and practising solicitor, legal executive (fellow) or barrister with up to 3 years PQE.
  • High level of knowledge of the law and procedure within the specialist area.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
