Position Overview

The Senior Planner is responsible for spearheading the creation and oversight of intricate construction project timelines, ensuring optimal resource allocation and compliance with project deadlines.

This role aims to deliver strategic planning guidance, mentor junior planners, and enhance project outcomes through the application of sophisticated scheduling methodologies.

The Senior Planner's responsibilities include high-level project coordination and planning, which are crucial for achieving effective and successful construction results.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the program content aligns with established planning protocols and guidelines.
  • Expertly identify planning scope, significant constraints, and contractual obligations while assessing major quantities and factors influencing the program.

Tender Management:
Leverage advanced skills to collaboratively formulate and agree upon a strategic and optimized sequence and methodology, ensuring the adoption of the most effective design, procurement, and construction strategies for successful project execution.

  • Utilize extensive expertise to meticulously create and document comprehensive planning outputs, including programs, planning philosophies, presentations, and reports. Exhibit advanced proficiency in developing the Tender Program and associated documentation, ensuring strict compliance with tender specifications and a focus on accuracy and strategic insight.

Contract Oversight:

During the contract phase, the Senior Planner assumes increased responsibility, employing advanced skills to ensure the precise creation, management, and upkeep of the Contract Program.

This involves adhering to planning protocols and closely collaborating with the Planning/Project Lead to enhance strategic planning components.

  • Analyze and assess the project critical path, advising the project team on outcomes and necessary corrective measures while producing and maintaining project baselines, and executing the change control process as required.

Resource Coordination:
Demonstrate expertise in managing labor, equipment, and materials effectively to fulfill project objectives while minimizing costs and delays.

Contract Administration:
Oversee contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance and resolving contract-related challenges.

  • Strategic Planning Leadership and Mentorship: Provide strategic planning leadership by leveraging advanced expertise in developing and implementing complex scheduling techniques. Actively mentor and guide junior planners, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing atmosphere. Significantly contribute to project success through the application of strategic planning insights and the development of talent within the planning team.

Data Evaluation:

Support the planning team in generating project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress, identify discrepancies, and make informed decisions for project enhancement.

Knowledge:
  • Advanced proficiency in project management tools and software such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, or ASTA.
  • Thorough understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in project scheduling and planning, including the ability to develop and manage complex project timelines using industry-standard tools.
  • Familiarity with various forms of tender and contract documents, and specifications.
  • Understanding of risk management in project programs: TRA, QSRA, etc.

Experience:
  • Proven experience in the production and management of construction programs across diverse and complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading planning initiatives for construction projects, showcasing a history of successful project delivery.
  • Previous experience in managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, exhibiting effective communication and interpersonal skills.
