Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Systemic Family Psychotherapist to join our team at the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. This role is ideal for a newly-qualified professional with a background in mental health disciplines such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing, who is eager to contribute to adult services.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage with clients and their families, utilizing established systemic family therapy techniques to address complex relational dynamics and challenges. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and formulating clinical strategies for individuals, couples, and families facing severe mental health issues.
  • Administering specialized assessments using a variety of systemic tools to analyze interactional patterns and contextual meanings.
  • Providing detailed reports and recommendations to inform stakeholders, including service users and their families.
  • Delivering tailored therapeutic interventions based on a diverse range of systemic models, while continuously monitoring and adapting approaches as necessary.
  • Leading risk assessments and offering guidance on psychological aspects of risk management.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery and promote a family-centered approach.

Team Collaboration

As part of the Brent Integrated Psychology & Psychotherapy Service, the post-holder will work closely with a dedicated team, contributing to systemic consultations and reflective practices. The role involves:

  • Facilitating family therapy clinics in partnership with senior therapists.
  • Encouraging a 'think family' perspective across various psychological therapy pathways.
  • Providing training and support to colleagues in systemic practices.
