Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operative - Metal Detector Specialist to join our team at Pilgrim's Europe. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the metal detector CCP, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control the metal detector CCP, performing checks as directed by company policy and customer requirements.
- Highlight any issues or concerns with quality to the area Line Controller, Process controller, Operation Team Leader, or Production Manager for immediate corrective action.
- Effectively liaise, work as part of a team, and interact with other operatives and supervisory staff.
- Perform tasks mainly in a temperature-controlled area, involving extensive periods of standing.
- Stop the line and ensure product is not allowed to leave the site until checked when the CCP fails.
- Adhere to the 223 shift pattern: A Shift - Light Meat - 06:00-18:00, Week 1 Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, Week 2 Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- Operate, program, and monitor the Delford or other labeling machinery.
- Monitor the Metal detection CCP and complete checks and paperwork as required.
- Advise managers when not trained for tasks you are being asked to carry out.
- Never allow untrained staff to operate the Metal detector. Do not allow staff who are in training to operate the metal detector unsupervised.
- Never run a metal detector following a failed CCP check until the problem is rectified.
- Communicate with PC and Line controller/management following failed CCP checks.
- Collect correct labels from the label room as directed in specifications and return all unused labels at the end of a product run.
- Do not undertake any tasks where training has not taken place.
- Work in a manner that promotes the health and safety of oneself and others.
- Report any health and safety issues to your immediate manager.
- Report any accidents or near misses to the first aider in the area.
- Set a good example of behavior.
- Work in a manner that ensures Quality and Hygiene standards are maintained in the production environment.
- Ensure productivity standards are maintained.
- You may be asked to work in any area of the business as and when demand requires it.
- Carry out a reasonable amount of overtime or work outside core hours to meet orders and demand of the business.
- Work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within your area and across the wider business.
- Be ready at the start of shift, to carry out specified checks in an accurate, timely, and methodical manner, causing the minimum of delay or disruption to the production process.
- Record all information, generated throughout the shift, on the appropriate sheets, accurately and legibly.
- Quickly report any anomalies to the appropriate manager so that corrective action may be taken.
- Ensure any equipment needed is available and functioning and ready to hand, to enable completion of checks in a competent and efficient manner.
- Be able to check and operate all designated labeling, weighing, measuring, or monitoring equipment, to ensure it is fully operational and accurate within specifications.
- Aquaint oneself with changes to product specifications and testing procedures as they evolve, thus ensuring operation to the current standard expected.
- At shift change over, ensure all relevant information, documentation, and equipment is passed to the oncoming Delford operative.
