Position Summary:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Quality Assurance Engineer - Deputy Team Leader to join a prominent player in the Defence Maritime sector, focusing on the Testing Division.
Reporting directly to the Testing Team Leader, the ideal candidate will be proactive and adaptable, executing functional and system evaluations on MOD and commercial apparatus. This role necessitates close cooperation with other project and team members, undertaking systems assessments and engineering responsibilities to support initiatives and devise solutions that align with project goals.
Key Duties:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a secure and legally compliant workplace.
- Perform evaluations on electrical and electronic assemblies and devices following standard operating procedures to meet MOD and commercial criteria.
- Issue and/or receive safety documentation such as work permits.
- Comply with high voltage switching safety protocols and requirements.
- Collaborate with the Engineering division to influence design parameters for testing.
- Organize and allocate resources to maximize efficiency.
- Track actual costs and schedule performance against established targets.
- Achieve productivity goals while upholding quality standards across all Testing/Sensor department activities.
- Facilitate and lead regular project-specific meetings to keep stakeholders updated on relevant matters and progress.
- Generate and monitor Testing/Sensor department 'cost to complete' key performance indicators.
- Perform any additional tasks as reasonably requested by Management.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and legislation.
- Experience in a similar capacity within a related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret manufacturing documentation and conduct associated self-inspection tasks.
- Strong communication skills with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work autonomously and take initiative.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Capability to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with internal Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001:2015.
- Understanding of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management.
- Knowledge of 5S continuous improvement and 7W waste reduction methodologies.
- Awareness of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Qualifications:
- GCSE Grade C/4 in Mathematics and English or equivalent.
- HNC in Electrical and Electronic Technology or equivalent.
- IPC 620 certification or equivalent.
