Research Assistant: Neurodegenerative Diseases

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team working on a project to identify novel disease-modifying therapies for MND/ALS. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new treatments for this devastating disease.
About the ProjectThe project aims to test compounds that have been shown to block the downstream toxic effects of abnormal protein or the abnormal protein-protein interactions mediating disease spread. The Research Assistant will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members to achieve this goal.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and analyze data to inform the design of trials in MND patients
- Develop and implement molecular assays of tissue obtained in vivo
- Perform histology, genomic, and proteomic analysis of post-mortem tissue
- Curate and analyze large datasets generated by the project
- Good honors degree (2.1 or above) in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, natural sciences, or equivalent
- Some subject knowledge in neuroscience, particularly ALS/MND
- Good analytical skills, particularly data analysis, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a team
