We are seeking a skilled Archivist to join our team at the University of Manchester Library. As part of a Wellcome grant, the successful candidate will work on developing the humanitarian archive, collecting personal papers of humanitarians and small NGOs, and cataloguing recently acquired collections.
The Archivist will work closely with the Library's Digital Preservation and Systems Manager to develop workflows for the ingest and management of born digital records into the Preservica digital preservation system. The role will involve creating a digital toolkit for contemporary humanitarians and NGOs seeking to develop sustainable archives.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with proven experience in digital archiving and a qualification in archives and records management. They will be a confident communicator and effective at building relationships with depositors and partner NGOs in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital archiving workflows
- Collect and catalogue personal papers and collections
- Collaborate with the Digital Preservation and Systems Manager to develop digital preservation systems
- Design and deliver training and support for humanitarians and NGOs
