Position Overview

We believe that every step, from the cherry to the cup, is crucial in delivering an outstanding coffee experience.

Current Opportunity: We are on the lookout for a committed and enthusiastic Quality Specialist to join our Quality Control (QC) team in London. This role encompasses managing outbound sample requests, conducting sample roasting, overseeing sample administration and data entry, organizing incoming samples in our laboratory, and preparing samples for cupping sessions. The ideal candidate will have completed courses from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and possess familiarity with coffee cupping and SCA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Coffee with cupping and sample preparation tasks.
  • Conduct sample roasting utilizing Roest and Probat equipment.
  • Manage sample administration and data entry, ensuring the organized flow of samples in the laboratory (including Offer, PSS, and Arrival samples).
  • Prepare samples for cupping evaluations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sample materials.
  • Adhere to The Gentlemen Baristas' QC protocols, including roasting, cupping, and green grading procedures.
  • Communicate sample dispatch information to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with the specialty team based in the UK and at coffee origins, providing necessary support and assistance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Effective reporting and communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the QC team.
  • In-depth knowledge of coffee.
  • Experience in roasting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) courses.
  • Strong cupping skills or Q grader certification.
  • Experience in coffee quality control (QC).
