Overview:

Reporting directly to the Head of Digital Trading, the Digital Trading Manager is responsible for spearheading the performance and expansion of their designated categories across online platforms. This role demands a proactive approach, resilience, and astute commercial insight to effectively navigate and prioritize within a rapidly evolving environment. The successful candidate will leverage their persuasive abilities to ensure the digital trading team collaborates seamlessly with colleagues in Marketing, Digital, and Commercial operations, utilizing all available tools and insights to enhance the strategic direction of their division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and implement a detailed digital strategy for your assigned categories, aiming to enhance digital KPIs in alignment with business objectives, employing all relevant trading mechanisms to boost visibility, conversion rates, sales, and profitability to meet set budgets.
  • Ensure that you and your team are making full use of the available tools and insights to elevate digital performance and commercial results.
  • Foster a culture driven by insights to maintain a continuous improvement framework within the team, showcasing strong examples of 'test and learn' initiatives. Collaborate with essential stakeholders in technology, engineering, merchandising, or design for necessary tool enhancements within agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with fellow Trading Managers on significant projects to refine our offerings and enhance digital performance metrics, prioritizing team resources for swift execution.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping future customer journeys and optimization strategies in partnership with Product Content and Content & Optimizations teams, ensuring your in-depth category knowledge is fully integrated.
  • Develop a comprehensive Category Plan that is regularly updated to ensure Digital contributes effectively to our broader business goals.
  • Engage closely with the Commercial Trading leadership teams to clarify the scope of digital trading, establish clear workflows, and maintain open lines of communication. Ensure your team is actively involved in promotional and category planning activities, utilizing data, analytics, and insights from relevant tools and reports.
  • Participate in key Food Commercial Senior Leadership Team meetings, sharing performance updates and contributing to the commercial strategy.
  • Identify and address trading improvement opportunities and risks promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with Customer and Event Planning, Content and Merchandising, Nectar360, Product, CX, and the Digital Operations Centre to ensure timely delivery of the content plan and initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with key insight suppliers, ensuring your team's Joint Business Plans are ambitious yet attainable, while also identifying opportunities for incremental investment.
  • Maintain high levels of competitor awareness within your categories and regularly communicate enhancements to customer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal frameworks within your team.
  • If applicable, lead, coach, and develop your team, ensuring they understand the overarching digital strategy and their role in achieving it. Set clear targets and maintain consistent reporting against these objectives. Identify training needs to foster team growth and create an inclusive, collaborative, and proactive work environment.

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with key stakeholders within e-Commerce, Digital divisions, and other relevant business areas, influencing outcomes effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of influencing at various levels both internally and with external suppliers.
  • A comprehensive understanding of retail operations and inter-departmental interactions, ideally with relevant experience.
  • Adept at challenging stakeholders with compelling arguments and actionable insights.
