Job Opportunity - Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Position: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Blackburn

Salary: £45,000 - £49,500 per annum

The successful Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of machinery and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on production equipment, identifying and resolving any potential issues before they cause disruptions.
  2. Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, diagnose the problem, and perform repairs or coordinate with external specialists when necessary.
  3. Carry out machine adjustments and changeovers to support production line efficiency and minimize downtime.
  4. Monitor and calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy, quality, and safety standards are met.
  5. Collaborate with production teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and provide technical expertise to enhance productivity.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering).
  2. Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in FMCG industry.
  3. Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery, including conveyors, motors, pumps, and packaging equipment.
  4. Proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to ensuring the highest levels of equipment reliability.
  5. A good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 17th edition wiring regulations would be advantageous.
