The Gads Hill Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our Center-Based Early Childhood program. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive early childhood education services to children in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the teaching team to provide a classroom environment that reflects diversity and adapts to children's differences.
- Prepare attendance records, lesson plans, and child development files, maintaining confidentiality of family records.
- Document children's growth and development using written observations, photography, and assessment tools.
- Utilize developmental screening tools to determine individual needs and individualize the curriculum.
- Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss lesson planning, reporting requirements, and individual needs.
- Attend professional development opportunities, such as staff meetings, in-service trainings, and conferences.
- Plan developmentally-appropriate activities that promote multiculturalism and critical-thinking skills.
- Develop positive relationships with parents/guardians and provide experiences that enhance their roles in their child's growth and development.
- Utilize the assistance of Family Support Staff, Mental Health Consultant, and other professionals to assist and refer parents to community resources.
- Encourage parent involvement in the classroom and Parent Committee and Policy Committee.
- Conduct and participate in home visits twice per year.
- Demonstrate knowledge of DCFS, Head Start, and Preschool for All standards and implement them in all aspects of work.
- Understand and adhere to NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and Code of Ethics.
- Conduct, document, and follow-up on daily child health checks.
- Participate in annual parent orientation/open house.
- Actively supervise and interact with all students in their care at all times.
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with at least 6 credit hours in Infants/Toddlers in Early Childhood.
- Illinois Gateways Infant Toddler Level 4 credential; Level 5 preferred.
- One (1) year previous direct early childhood classroom experience with low-income families.
- Experience with multi-cultural programming preferred.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
- Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
- A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Entry Salary: $38,000 - $45,000/year
Schedule: Full-time
