About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Nurse to join our team at Primary Care Careers. As a Dental Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our dental team in delivering exceptional services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and receive service users into the dental service, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Reassure service users and explain dental procedures, particularly when communication difficulties arise.
  • Monitor, support, and reassure service users through relevant behavioral techniques.
  • Record treatment, including baseline charting, clinical treatments, and periodontal charting, as instructed by the dental operator.
  • Undertake reception duties, including greeting service users, answering the telephone, making appointments, and collecting service user charges.
  • Liaise with the dental team, senior leaders, and wider colleagues to maintain the effective running of the dental service.
  • Anticipate the operator's requirements across a broad range of clinical procedures, practicing four-handed dentistry to improve speed, efficiency, and comfort for the service user.
  • Assist the operator in organizing the day's activities.
  • Monitor day lists and appointment diaries, updating as necessary.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • National Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council.

Desirable

  • Certificate for the examination in the care of the service user by the awarding body, the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).
  • Certificate in Dental Radiography.
  • NEBDN Oral Health Certificate in Oral Health Education (or equivalent) OR Certificate in Extended Duties Dental Nursing.
  • Willing to work towards at least one of the above qualifications.
