The Ornamental Horticulture Manager is responsible for overseeing a dedicated team that propagates, plants, and maintains these ornamental areas. This role involves strategic planning and active participation in the design of seasonal plantings, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated and monitored. Additionally, maintaining precise plant records is crucial, along with budget planning and monitoring, while upholding health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of horticulturalists in the propagation and maintenance of ornamental plantings.
- Design and implement seasonal planting schemes that enhance the aesthetic appeal of the gardens.
- Manage budgets and resources efficiently to meet the operational needs of the gardens.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental management practices.
- Foster collaboration with other departments to achieve strategic sustainability and conservation goals.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent qualification in horticulture, complemented by substantial post-qualification experience. A strong background in the planting and maintenance of ornamental displays for public enjoyment is essential, along with a creative approach to plant design.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary for managing and motivating a team. The ability to independently plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively is crucial to meet demanding planting schedules.
