Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Empowering Learning. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in SEND Schools and Mainstream Schools in Barnet, North London.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support to students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) who require additional support and learning needs. This will involve working one-to-one and in small groups to help students achieve their academic, emotional, and social goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with EHCPs, including those with moderate learning disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the ALS (Alternative Learning Support) team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, encouraging their academic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Support students in achieving their learning goals, including developing social skills and demonstrating learning techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting students.
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting children, adults, or the elderly with disabilities and/or learning difficulties in a professional or personal capacity.
  • Ability to support and encourage high levels of social skills and demonstrate learning techniques.
  • Commitment to a full-time role on a long-term basis, working Monday to Friday.
  • Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with students.
  • Ability to understand the needs of students and provide appropriate support.
  • Ability to work one-to-one and in small groups.
