About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estate Management Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Estates team, you will play a vital role in providing technical support and advice to our Estates Manager and Estates Officers on all Estates matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tenders, monitor, and administer all maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and operational policies.
  • Liaise with Procurement and other sites in relation to Maintenance contracts, minor works, and Capital works to ensure seamless coordination and effective project management.
  • Aid Estates Officers in procurement and contract matters, providing expert guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Undertake Authorized Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational policies.
  • Monitor all technical and safety standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing action plans to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Assist Estates Officers in minor capital and revenue improvement works, providing technical expertise and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • A minimum qualification of City & Guilds 232 part 2 or 236 or 205-3 or 596-2 or 596-1 plus 599-2, or an equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering discipline.
  • Completion of a structured training program in Mechanical Engineering for a minimum of 3 years, at least 2 years post-training site experience, at least 3 years management experience in a similar position, and background in Mechanical Engineering, equipment, or Building services installation, alteration, maintenance, fault finding, and project management.
  • Good leadership, fault diagnosis, keyboard, and communication skills, with the ability to work without supervision and adapt to change.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office and BMS systems, with knowledge of policies and procedures, technical standards (HTM, British Standards, H&S), and project management.
