Job Title: Principal Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our configuration management team, you will be responsible for supporting the production of the configuration management plan, designing and maintaining configuration management and release processes, and discharging configuration management activities in accordance with the plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of the configuration management plan
  • Design and maintain configuration management and release processes
  • Discharge configuration management activities in accordance with the plan
  • Identify, produce, release, and deliver software products to internal and external customers
  • Support the definition, implementation, and maintenance of stakeholder configuration management requirements
  • Support configuration audit activities
  • Coach the configuration management team
  • Interface with the platform configuration management team to ensure accurate maintenance of platform configurations

Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science)
  • Relevant configuration management standards (IEEE-828, ISO-TR-19759)
  • Practical knowledge of configuration and release management
  • Configuration management toolsets (Micro focus Dimensions)
  • Release management

Desirable Skills:

  • Registered as CEng or demonstrate eligibility and commitment to register within 12 months
  • Systems and engineering lifecycle models (V or Waterfall)
  • Configuration auditing
  • Process design and development

About the Role:

This is a new capability within the business, and you will have the opportunity to significantly influence the direction of the team. You will be involved in defining, establishing, approving, and maintaining configuration and release management processes for products and supporting artefacts for the Dreadnought program with the support of a team of engineers.
