Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lettings Agency Officer to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our housing services team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operational running of our lettings service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Leased Portfolio: Assist in the management of our current leased portfolio, working closely with landlords to acquire new properties and ensure the sustainability of tenancies.
  • Develop and Review Policies: Contribute to the ongoing development and review of policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of our lettings service.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Engage with landlords, investors, and developers to increase the provision of good quality, affordable accommodation for a range of needs.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and negotiate lease offers with local landlords and investors.
  • Rent Collection and Liaison: Ensure that tenancy rental income is maximised through effective rent collection and liaison with the Housing Benefit department.
  • Tenancy Management: Identify new tenants in line with policies and procedures, ensuring the sustainability of tenancies and an efficient re-let process to minimise rent loss.
  • Property Inventory and Checks: Conduct property inventory and other checks before, during, and at the end of tenancies.
  • Customer Service: Respond to landlord, tenant, and prospective tenant queries, providing advice and guidance as required.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to Council teams to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to deliver the lettings service.
  • Information Systems: Use, maintain, and develop information systems to support the delivery of our lettings service.
  • Working Arrangements: Work within lone working procedures and sometimes work outside normal office hours.
  • Data Protection: Ensure that you operate within GDPR guidelines by regularly reviewing data held and destroying information in line with retention schedules.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Ideally, you will have previous experience as an Estate Agent or Housing Officer, dealing with the letting of properties in the local area.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal IT systems.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the public, other members of staff, and managers.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Working Arrangements: Hybrid working, with 2 days in the office and 3 working from home.
