About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Publisher Relations Manager to join our team at the National Literacy Trust. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for managing relationships with leading publishers and authors to support our work in promoting literacy and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the publishing industry, including publishers, authors, and illustrators.
  • Co-produce a programme of inclusive and diverse events for schools and communities, working closely with colleagues in the communities team.
  • Manage event logistics to ensure the best possible offer for the audience.
  • Ensure authors and illustrators are fully briefed and supported in their involvement with our work.
  • Liaise with publishers to manage content, permissions, and copyright processes.
  • Represent the National Literacy Trust at book launches and other publisher events.
  • Work with colleagues across the organisation to create processes and reports to capture publisher-related activity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience of managing relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of the publishing industry and contemporary writing for children and young people.
  • Event programming and management skills, for both in-person and online events.
  • Good understanding of programming inclusive and diverse events for children, young people, and adults.
  • Confident in supporting early career authors and illustrators.
  • Working efficiently to multiple deadlines.
  • Confident working independently as well as collaborating with colleagues.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with high-profile authors and illustrators.
  • IT and tech capabilities for running online events.
  • Handling sensitive/confidential information.
  • Good working knowledge of schools and the education system.
