This role is crucial and requires an individual who can work autonomously, is self-driven, and demonstrates resilience. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and effectively communicating with patients, their families, and various staff members across departments, including multi-disciplinary teams and external services. Experience within the NHS is a plus.
Working Schedule:
25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with variable hours.
Main Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this role is to provide clerical and reception support for the ward, assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and Nurse in Charge, and maintain ward clinical data across various clinical systems.

You will join a team of experienced nurses and administrative staff dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients undergoing ophthalmic elective and emergency procedures. The Eyford Unit comprises two operating theatres and three bays in the Day Unit, where we uphold values of kindness and respect, treating all service users with professionalism and friendliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, serving as a welcoming point for the ward and addressing requests from patients, staff, and visitors.
- Analyze and resolve routine non-clinical issues, utilizing Trust policies and your initiative to ensure seamless support for clinical staff.
- Manage inquiries both in person and over the phone with professionalism.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure continuous support for clinical staff, facilitating efficient patient care delivery.
- Assist ward nurses with discharge processes, including updating relevant systems and transport arrangements.
- Ensure timely access to essential patient information by managing documentation effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Coordinate routine and emergency transport to enhance patient flow.
- Input patient details accurately into the clinical system, ensuring appointments and procedures are scheduled appropriately.
- Support other wards as needed, demonstrating flexibility in your role.
Qualifications
Essential:
- GCSE in English and Maths.
- Experience in customer service and front-line administration.
Desirable:
- ECDL certification.
- Experience within the NHS.
