We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a prestigious main contractor based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Our client is well-regarded for executing intricate, high-value projects, and the successful candidate will be an integral part of their expanding power division. They work with notable clients such as Scottish Power, National Grid, and SSE, focusing on projects that range from the construction and refurbishment of substations to the upgrade of high voltage overhead powerlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Manage all financial aspects of projects, including the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver precise and timely financial reports, encompassing cost forecasts, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Contract Administration: Effectively administer contracts, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions while managing any variations or modifications.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address potential financial risks throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Negotiate and oversee contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring value for money and quality outcomes.
  • Client Liaison: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and ensuring satisfaction with project execution.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of experience in quantity surveying, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership with RICS or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost management tools).
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will receive a competitive package that includes:
