Electrical Controls Engineer

Cranleigh STEM, Sustainability & SHEQ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join its team based in Cambridge on a permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities- Support the maintenance effort across the site to improve plant performance and reliability.
- Lead continuous improvement projects within the department.
- Provide Electrical & Controls Engineering skills and knowledge to the Project Engineering team.
- Support project, process and maintenance activities that will lead to improved safety and production efficiencies.
- Lead continuous improvement projects from concept to successful implementation.
- Develop concepts into detailed control specifications on a broad range of manufacturing equipment.
- Create and maintain electrical, instrumentation and controls documentation.
- Support site breakdowns as required to return the plant into production promptly.
- Requirement to join the technical support call-out rota.
- Remain available to support the site, to ensure safety and minimise downtime.
- Degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous experience acting as an Electrical Controls Engineer – with a strong background in instrumentation/controls.
- Engineering experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
- Experience including design and specification of industrial chemical processes or similar.
- Rockwell PLC knowledge required (Logix 5000 & 500, plus RS view) of Safety PLC systems and SIL.
- Drive knowledge e.g., Allen Bradley, Parker/SDS, ABB.
- Practical application of problem solving and fault finding i.e., 4-20mA loops, Eurotherm controllers, process critical equipment.
- Experience with industry-standard risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, and FMEA.
- Trained in machine safety.
- ATEX & commissioning experience would be advantageous.
- 2D CAD knowledge is advantageous (AutoCAD, EPlan etc.).
