Senior Teaching and Research Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Teaching and Research Technician to join our team at the University of Bath. As a key member of our Department of Life Sciences, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of laboratory-based teaching activities across our MSc programmes.
As a Senior Teaching and Research Technician, you will be responsible for leading the technical team across the MSc's main experimental research themes, focusing on molecular biology, microbiology, and tissue engineering. You will work closely with academic staff and MSc students to facilitate the smooth running of laboratory classes, contribute to the assessment of MSc student work, and assist with the development of new teaching activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the technical team and coordinating laboratory activities
- Developing and delivering laboratory-based teaching activities
- Contributing to the assessment of MSc student work
- Assisting with the development of new teaching activities
- Supporting MSc students' research projects
We are looking for someone with excellent practical skills, significant experience, and practical knowledge in one of the main areas of molecular biology, microbiology, or tissue engineering. You will have a strong understanding of laboratory techniques, including nucleic acid amplification and purification, cloning, bacterial/fungal transformations, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, microbial fermentation, mammalian cell-culture, protein quantification and visualisation, and immunohistology.
