Babcock is seeking a Senior Finance Director to join our team in Belfast. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in supporting and managing the delivery and maximisation of financial performance for a portfolio of Babcock Rail Contracts.

The Role

As a Senior Finance Director, you will be responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, strong corporate governance, and the production of timely and meaningful financial analysis. You will also lead and develop a project finance team to provide high-quality business partnering support to the line of business management and contract project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Line of Business management team to assure and enhance the processes used to operate and control performance.
  • Lead and develop a project finance team to provide high-quality business partnering support to the line of business management and contract project teams.
  • Ensure financial targets are delivered or exceeded wherever possible, including the successful tender and conversion of Framework delivery, Rebids, and Re-lets.
  • Identify, drive, and deliver continuous improvements to financial processes, procedures, and operating practices.
  • Ensure the Line of Business finance team is appropriately resourced and managed to deliver effectively.

Requirements

  • Demonstratable experience in a construction/project-based environment.
  • Strong business/process analysis and modelling skills, including bid and tender production and review.
  • Ability to assess business risks, issues, and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions.
  • Effective line management capability with a proven track record for maximising team delivery and output.
  • Experience of working with Commercial and Project Operational teams.

Qualifications

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent/similar.
