Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ambulatory Care RN to join our team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development and implementation of clinical protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide competent venepuncture and IV cannulation services to patients.
  • Maintain and complete accurate source documentation and oversee the preparation of study activity.
  • Record patients' medical history and current health status at research clinic attendance.
  • Perform phlebotomy, monitor vital signs, and conduct other specialized nursing procedures as required.
  • Participate in and coordinate planning, development, and implementation of clinical protocols in accordance with research parameters.
  • Plan and carry out protocols for the screening, recruitment, and retention of clinical research subjects.
  • Undertake data collection systems and procedures, specimen collection, processing, and recording of clinical data and/or specimen samples as required.
  • Update the research database with clinical data.

Professional Development

  • Stay up-to-date with departmental and Trust policies and NHS developments for the management of clinical research.
  • Attend relevant courses and study days to enhance professional development.
  • Act as a personal and professional role model at all times.
  • Maintain the Personal Development Plan in discussions with line manager.

Compliance and Governance

  • Comply with ICH GCP, the law, and the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1984 and the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
  • Comply with Trust, Directorate, and Clinical Trials Unit policies and protocols.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the NMC.
  • Experience in clinical research and/or ambulatory care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
