About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team in Totton. As a key member of our Depot Operations team, you will be responsible for undertaking a variety of duties including pothole repairs, excavation works, laying and levelling kerbs, slabs and bitumen macadam, drainage and gully installations, vegetation management, and other Highways activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all Highways Maintenance activity is carried out safely, correct traffic management methods are used, and Company benchmark standards applied.
  • Operate all plant, tools, and equipment necessary to complete work, ensuring a high standard of equipment care.
  • Install traffic management under instruction in accordance with method statements.
  • Participate in Winter and Emergency Service duties as required.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained, including drivers' hours, timesheets, job stock and materials, job feedback notes, and Permits.
  • Keep vehicles clean, tidy, and correctly loaded, with waste materials to be correctly transported and managed in the Depot.
  • Support weather-related or emergency events, such as flooding prevention, sandbag/salt wick filling and deployment, clearing debris from the highway, emergency road closures, and diversions.
  • Assist in all Highway Maintenance work as instructed and dependent on experience and qualifications.
Requirements
  • HGV Class C driving licence is highly desirable or the ability to demonstrate capability to support investment of HGV Class C training during the probationary period.
  • Experience working in a similar role or environment undertaking a high level of manual and outdoor work in all weathers.
  • Highway's maintenance experience preferred.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS card (training can be provided).
  • The willingness to learn and develop within your role and be flexible.
