About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Cadet Recruitment and Training Officer to join our team at James Fisher and Sons plc. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and deploying crew into our fleet as Officer Trainees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and select Officer Trainees from a diverse pool of candidates, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide support and pastoral care to Officer Trainees throughout their training schemes, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Manage tonnage tax returns and SMaRT funding applications, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Maintain links with training establishments, provide guidance for Officers' refresher training, and arrange short courses.
  • Administer development courses, uniforms, and general correspondence.
  • Track and trend video and distant learning training.
  • Arrange short courses for qualified Officers, such as Bridge Team management and Cargo handling.
  • Travel to and meet with college staff to arrange courses in the UK and Europe.
  • Attend career events and promote James Fisher and the maritime roles we offer.
  • Manage the training budget, ensuring spend remains within approved limits.
Requirements
  • Experience in training and development or recruitment.
  • Knowledge of government training grants, particularly tonnage tax and SMaRT funding.
  • Ability to travel to colleges, view facilities, and meet with Officer Trainees.
  • Understanding of shipboard operations and 'life onboard'.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications and electronic crewing systems.
  • Integrity, compassion, and a willingness to go above and beyond to support Officer Trainees.
