Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Description

This esteemed client is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team and support the Commercial Director in managing the Commercial Operations within the M&E Capital Programme or Planned Works Programme.

This client is a leading provider of care and support services, operating across the UK with a portfolio of over 57,000 homes. They specialize in older people, mental health, and transitional services, offering intensive support to marginalized or vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly expenditure and negotiate contract rates to optimize commercial performance.
  • Closing out end-of-contract final accounts and extending supply chain contracts to ensure seamless operations.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of variance against budget and forecasts to inform business decisions.
  • Analyze quotes from contractors to ensure best value for the client.

Requirements

  • Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying and have 6-10 years of experience in the role.
  • Experience in working in a Senior Quantity Surveying or Commercial Manager role in a Social Housing, commercial environment, including the application of Nat Fed Schedule of Rates based contracts.
  • Excellent planning, budgeting, organizing, and prioritization skills, with the ability to interpret financial and other systems data.
  • Experience managing staff in a commercial-related environment and previous experience of managing various forms of Contracts and Cost Models.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and Word, with excellent writing skills and demonstrable evidence of writing narratives and reports for formal disputes.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
