Project Overview: Mozambique LNG
The Mozambique LNG project involves the development of a subsea gas field extending 1,400 meters to shore, situated in the northern region of Mozambique near the Tanzania border.
This project includes a shallow water and dredging component, which consists of three trunklines, two MEG lines, and two umbilicals that will come ashore through a pre-dredged trench approximately 17 kilometers long.
The Landfall Engineering Specialist will report directly to the Afungi Upstream Installation/Construction Manager and will be responsible for overseeing contractor activities related to the landfall operations. This includes the setup and operation of the pull-in winch and associated tasks. The scope of work also encompasses the installation and trenching of a section of pipeline, as well as the installation of beach valve stations and their concrete foundations, including elements of the pre-commissioning phase.
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and management at the Landfall Works site throughout all project phases.
- Ensure the safe, timely, and budget-compliant delivery of all elements related to the Landfall Works within the EPCI scope, maintaining a high standard of quality aligned with a project design life of 30 years.
- Monitor and manage all aspects of the Landfall Works to meet or exceed schedule, budget, technical, quality, and HSES standards.
- Implement a readiness process to ensure thorough preparation by both contractors and the company for the commencement of site activities, documenting all steps taken.
- Promptly communicate any significant project threats to the Afungi Upstream Installation/Construction Manager, along with proposed mitigation strategies.
- Provide comprehensive reporting to all stakeholders regarding Landfall Work activities.
- Ensure readiness reviews and equipment inspections are conducted, with findings documented and addressed.
- Guarantee that all Landfall Work activities comply with project technical specifications and are fit for purpose.
- Identify and resolve detailed interface issues in collaboration with other managers and senior discipline engineers efficiently and cost-effectively.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the offshore construction sector, particularly in landfalls and land pipelines.
- Proven experience in managing on-site contractors.
- Ability to foster strong working relationships with contractors and their personnel, facilitating collaborative problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of representing the project professionally to third parties and stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification is required, with a preference for geotechnical, civil, or mechanical engineering disciplines.
