Job Summary:

The Space Sector Team within the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Trade Specialist to lead on the Indo-Pacific market portfolio and contribute to the Team's approach to attracting equity investment into UK-based space companies.

About the Role:

This is a stimulating and exciting role that requires a strong understanding of the space sector and its priorities. The successful applicant will coordinate trade missions for UK-based space companies to participate in large international conferences and events, and will be expected to travel as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the Indo-Pacific market portfolio, working closely with DBT colleagues and international partners to identify opportunities for trade and investment in the space sector.
  • Contribute to the development of the Private Investment Framework for Space, working with a cross-Whitehall team to deliver different aspects of the Framework.
  • Manage inward investors in both the UK and overseas markets, supporting companies to export their sensitive technologies appropriately and building more resilient and secure supply chains with partners and allies.
  • Attend investment-related events across the UK and overseas, building relationships with key stakeholders and promoting UK space capability overseas.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the space sector and its priorities, including the Indo-Pacific market.
  • Experience of working in a trade and investment role, with a strong understanding of the UK's trade and investment policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and promote UK space capability overseas.
  • Ability to travel as part of this role, with a valid passport and any necessary visas.
