Job Description

GSK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of AI/ML Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our Responsible AI team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing AI/ML strategies that drive business growth and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of AI/ML engineers to develop and deploy AI/ML solutions that meet business needs
  • Develop and implement AI/ML strategies that drive business growth and improve patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into our products and services
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AI/ML trends and technologies and apply them to our business
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, engineers, and researchers

Requirements:

  • PhD in a quantitative or engineering discipline (e.g., computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, engineering, among others)
  • Strong track record as an independent ML researcher, preferably in a field related to responsible AI
  • Demonstrated advanced programming expertise in Python and in developing and delivering robust software solutions
  • 2+ years experience in a technical lead or engineering manager role with direct reports
  • 5+ years experience of ML research and/or software development practices: code standards, code review, version control, CI/CD, testing, documentation, Agile, with the ability to mentor others in these practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of developing leaders
  • Experience building and evaluating large language models (LLMs) and LLM-based applications
  • Experience working with biomedical data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, electronic health records, clinical images)
