  • Take photographs of the retina to check for signs of damage to the vessels, perform an initial review of the images, and send them for full assessment (grading).

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Set up and manage your own screening clinic, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
  • Welcome and interact with service users, providing a positive experience.
  • Undertake general eye health checks, including measuring visual acuity.

  • Operate photography equipment to capture high-quality images of the retina.
  • Perform daily equipment cleaning and maintenance checks, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

  • Enrollment on the national Health Screening Diploma course, combining on-the-job training with personal study.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and understanding when interacting with service users from diverse backgrounds.
