Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs

Location: Astington, Northumberland

Salary: £75 to £100 per day

Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting students with special educational needs. This role involves working closely with students in various educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom educators in delivering lessons and maintaining an effective learning environment.
  • Implement the school's behaviour management strategies to foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Support teachers in managing student behaviour effectively.
  • Provide assistance to pupils with additional needs, including SEMH, ASC, MLD, and ADHD.
  • Track and document student progress, raising any concerns with appropriate staff members.
  • Engage in team discussions and contribute to the development and evaluation of student support plans.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or other relevant qualifications.
  • Experience or training as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in special education settings.
  • Possession of an updated CV covering the last ten years, with no unexplained gaps, and an enhanced DBS registered with the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to meet the diverse needs of learners.
