About the Adult Social Care Lawyer Role

The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a qualified Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their dynamic and friendly Legal Team. The successful candidate will have experience in Adult Social Care Law, preferably from a local authority setting, and will be expected to attend the office in Catford twice a week.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Senior Social Care Lawyer
  • Handle a demanding and busy caseload of predominantly Adult Social Care matters, including court and advice work
  • Advise Social Services clients in person and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, and in particular prepare a wide variety of court documents, and advise on social care law, and assist the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as and when required
  • Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work
  • Carry out legal research

Requirements

The successful candidate must be a qualified lawyer with at least 3 years PQE (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx), and must hold a current practising certificate. The ideal candidate will have a local government background and experience in Adult Social Care Law.
